Bastille Day, celebrated on July 14th every year, marks both anniversary of the storming of the Bastille and the FĂȘte de la FĂ©dĂ©ration which occurred in Paris, France, on 14 July 1789, when revolutionary insurgents attempted to storm and seize control of the medieval armoury, fortress and political prison known as the Bastille. This pivotal event ignited the flames of the French Revolution, symbolizing the quest for the liberty and equality. One of the most poignant moments during Pondicherryâs Bastille Day celebration is Mrs Lise Talbot barrĂ© is the present consul General of France in Pondicherry and Chennai lays a bouquet at the French War Memorial.
